@brennyn
I eat breakfast after my morning workout.
When I worked in an office I’d ride to work, hit the gym, or go for a run and then shower (I always worked somewhere that had showers) and then have breakfast when I got to my desk. And I always had breakfast food at my desk.
Now that I WFH I still eat breakfast after my morning workout but I now have a home gym (since COVID) and get to use my own shower.
@kittykat9180 That may very well be a part of it. I’d always at least jogged in the morning for as long as I’d been old enough to be able to jog then fell out of it once I got a job that was 16 hour shifts. I’m just now getting back into the routine but if I try it eat before I’ve been up for a couple of hours the food just feels disgusting in my mouth and I have to spit it out.
If my wife makes breakfast for me it’s scrambled eggs from our chickens/ducks and sausage. If not I grab a double jalapeno biscuits and gravy at a local convenience store. In both cases I grab an orange juice to go with it.
Southern Grits, with Butter some days, Cereal (3-5 different brands/types shaken up in a container on many days, the others instant Oatmeal, two different flavored packs mixed together.
With water that was flavored. NO Coffee or tea.
@mycya4me
I have oatmeal most days (it’s supposed to help with cholesterol) but I like old fashioned. Those packets are too sweet and taste artificial.
Maybe one day I’ll switch to steel cut but that takes much longer to cook so I’m not sold yet.
@kittykat9180@mycya4me I wish the packets came in savory flavors instead of just sweet. People think I’m crazy for doing this but a common lunch for me is quick oats (distinct from instant oats) with Worcestershire sauce.
@kittykat9180 well many times I want something, warm, so the instant Oatmeal/ Grits help warm you up & is quick! I also heard that instant Grits is great to increase your Iron levels, especially before giving blood!
@brennyn@kittykat9180 to each his own thing, that is the reason I get plain Grits, then I can put what I want with them! as far as the Oatmeal goes, I will have plain one & a flavored one.
I suppose I’m one of the few people keeping Kellogg’s and General Mills in business. Cereal six days a week for me. Saturday is usually hot breakfast (pancakes, waffles, or biscuits with some breakfast meat and eggs).
Currently having Crispix and Rice Krispies mixed with banana on top.
@IWUJackson That is me also. most of the time it is Cereal 6 days & Grits on Tuesday Morning. I have a Breakfast Zoom with some Photo friends. Grits are fast to make & warm too!
@IWUJackson@Kyeh well that is a VERY good Question! One with a Good answer!
On Tuesday AM between 8:30a - 10-10:30ish my Local Photo group get together for a Virtual Zoom Breakfast… we talk about stuff from A-Z (except the Big 2, Politics/ Religion) Sometime we might talk about photo stuff. hehehe.
We started around the beginning of Covid, Hey we like it, several have moved out of the local metro area… But they are still very much a part of the Group & since it is Zoom it don’t matter where you are (some even join in when on vacation)
So Fixing instant Grits is quick/ easy & less mess! Just add a bit of butter. Clean up is also quick! I still have Grits other times too… sometimes I also eat it for Dinner! It is warn (a good thing during the cool/ colder time of the year!
another vote for…Lunch
I generally get up around 6:00 a.m., make a cup of Keurig coffee while the drip maker is making half a pot. Over the next few hours I will peruse this site as well as read the local newspaper on the tablet, finishing the coffee. It’s usually around 10 or 11:00 before I eat anything, 4+ hours after I’ve gotten up.
At that time it could be anything from fat free cottage cheese with pineapple and/or bananas, to oatmeal, grits, eggs/omelet/egg sandwich, pancakes/waffles/french toast, or even leftovers.
@caalsio@kittykat9180 I can’t stomach Earl Grey - the bergamot smells/tastes like perfumed soap to me. I do like a nice strong cup of English Breakfast, though.
smoothie consisting of OJ, (passionfruit or carrot or pineapple or ??) juice, spinach, kale, a banana, strawberries, blueberries, [misc_bagged_frozen_fruits], a tsp of protein powder and a tsp of metamucil.
Cereal and Yogurt.
Lunch
Does a granola bar with yogurt count as yogurt or cereal?
@hchavers
Yes
Coffee and a glass of water. I’ve never understood how people can stand eating right after waking up.

@brennyn I eat sitting at the table.

@kittykat9180 I make steel cut oats in a steamer the night before. (I actually like eating them lumpy, cold and coagulated.
)
@mycya4me Oh for sure, I love grits too. Cook, pack into a pint glass, refrigerate, gradually take slices off the “log”.
@brennyn
That sounds terrible. Lol.
But I also don’t like Worcestershire sauce.
Bacon egg and cheese burrito (usually with some peppers), coffee, fresh fruit.
Cottage cheese and pineapple.
@gjrupert
I’m a big fan of cottage cheese with fruit.
Sometimes I’ll add only fresh ground peppercorns to it instead.
@gjrupert @kittykat9180 tajin
Granola bar, almond milk, & 2 cups of coffee, black.
Espresso shots
Hot cereal.
Old fashioned oats with a mushed up banana or berries to add some sweetness.

@IWUJackson @mycya4me I see. I like grits, I should start having some again. I like to poach an egg on top of them too.
@IWUJackson @Kyeh That is one of the Best things about Grits. they go so well with so much stuff! I say go for it! Let me know how it is!
A very specific blend of vitamins, supplements & fiber along with two large glasses of water. YUM!!
@tohar1 wow
eggs twice a week. waffles and turkey sausage once, cereal twice, bagels on the weekend. all with coffee.
@olperfesser
That’s very specific

Usually an english muffin with cream cheese and jam. Paired with an Earl Grey tea. I should do something with more protein buuuuut that requires prep.
@caalsio
I love me some earl grey. Sometimes I will make a London fog.
@kittykat9180 London fogs are hands-down my fav hot drink. (Well, they’re p good iced too)
@caalsio @kittykat9180 I can’t stomach Earl Grey - the bergamot smells/tastes like perfumed soap to me.

I am eating just such a meal right now.
smoothie consisting of OJ, (passionfruit or carrot or pineapple or ??) juice, spinach, kale, a banana, strawberries, blueberries, [misc_bagged_frozen_fruits], a tsp of protein powder and a tsp of metamucil.

Typically it’s always milk, fruit, and something helpful hefty.
Right now its Oatmeal with flaxseed and honey.
Other days it’s eggs.
Yesterday was two eggs baked under a margarita slice(of pizza)
Today it’s a cup of microwaved PB & fig preserves mixed into some Greek yogurt and a banana.
Tomorrow I’ve got butter garlic pancakes ready (made from leftover pizza dough and pancake mix).
@pakopako What do serve on butter garlic pancakes?
@Kyeh bacon
@pakopako Sounds good.
